Every year, information technology is becoming increasingly widespread throughout the world, and in addition to the vast opportunities it presents for obtaining knowledge, it also gives users the opportunity to use other people's work as their own. There are many websites that provide pre-written library research papers, coursework and other scholarly papers. The use of other people's papers has a markedly negative effect on the quality of education among young specialists. Online it is easy to find theses and other papers with differences only on the title page.

Therefore, today the issue of text reuse detection in student papers is becoming increasingly acute. To avoid copying information, papers need to be checked for possible reuse.

The system does not determine the presence of plagiarism. According to the dictionary, "plagiarism" is the use of someone else's work as your own, the illegal publication of someone else's work under your own name, or the attribution of authorship. A check in our system shows the presence of text matches (the same or similar text fragments). The system does not determine the primary source and does not compare the publication dates of documents. The results of a check in the system cannot be interpreted as straight evidence of plagiarism, and carry no legal weight.

Yes, of course. Checks in our system are entirely trustworthy. It was developed by highly-qualified researchers and programmers, and uses modern analysis algorithms to identify reuse even if the text has been edited, like changes in word forms, rearranging words, etc. However, in any case, you should carefully review the check report and not rely solely on the system's assessment.

Generally, the source database depends on the added collections. For the free access, only open sources of the internet are checked.

Expanded search database is available for corporate users. The Antiplagiat system works with the most popular document collections, including the collection of the Russian State Library, the National Library of Belarus, legal collections of Lexpro and Garant, patent collections, etc. Collections contain Russian, English, and also in most languages of CIS countries.

The database of Antiplagiat system sources is expanded regularly: on average at least 5 million sources every month. Preference is given to academic materials, such as research papers, theses, dissertations, scientific articles, library research papers and other materials that might be used when writing academic papers.

The system does not store copies of source documents (website pages, documents published online, etc.). When a new source is detected, the system indexes it, i.e. constructs special blocks of information, or indexes, and digital patterns of the documents which are used for further searching.

The best way to "get around" the system and increase the percentage of originality is to write the paper by yourself.

There are several methods to visually improve the originality, but all of them are easily detected and can be viewed in the report.

The system for individuals is for personal use. The user independently choses the necessary rate plans and services and pays for them, and no other users have access to the results of their checks in the system.

The corporate version provides advanced search and management capabilities. In the corporate version, more search databases are available. For example, searches are conducted through the Ring of Universities - the specially created collection of documents of higher education institutions participating in the project. The results of the check are available to the system administrator of the organization, and checked documents can be added to the index of the internal collection. In addition, Antiplagiat.EDU includes the process of interaction between teachers and students to systemize and simplify checking student papers.

The Antiplagiat system is primarily a tool for identifying identical text fragments. It does not evaluate the legitimacy or accuracy of reuse; this decision must be made by a subject-matter expert in each case individually. Only the conclusion of an expert can serve as the basis for any court proceedings. Antiplagiat system report is not enough for this.

Documents uploaded by the user to check are converted by the system and divided into small fragments. Then the system compares each fragment against the available.

The search algorithm is based on the principles of the Yandex search engine described in the article "How search engines work" by Ilya Segalovich (the article available in russian)

The search database is constantly expanding its list of indexed documents. The more sources are checked, the more efficient the search is.

For the correct display of reuse from regulatory legal acts, checks must be performed against the Lexpro and Garant collections. These collections include the majority of existing legal information, as well as links to the tax law and GOST standards of Russia. All reuses identified during the search through these collections, are displayed as quotes (except for author articles).

If the quotes on normative legal documentation were not indicated in the report, these collections are probably not added in your organization. If you want to purchase these modules, you can contact the system administrator in your organization.
